While I believe in sharing content, I also believe in respecting the work that all creators put into their creations. This is why I honor any licenses in place by the creators of any content I use on this site, and I expect the same of anyone wishing to use any of my written content.

Written content on this website is not licensed under a Creative Commons license or in the public domain. No one is authorized to use any written content on this site beyond fair use without my permission. Fair use means quoting no more than two or three sentences from an article and clearly attributing the writing to me, Rainbow Gryphon, with a link back to the article’s webpage. Not following these rules is copyright infringement.

I’m open to requests to re-post my content, but I need to know about it before you do it so that I can make an informed decision. If you wish to use any of my content beyond fair use, please use my contact form. I’d like to know things like what your website is about and how you think my content fits into it.

I occasionally use images that I’ve created on my site. These are usually clearly marked with attribution-noncommercial-no derivative Creative Commons licenses. That means you don’t have to contact me for permission to use these images as long as you follow these rules:

  • Include “Photo by Rainbow Gryphon” below the photo or in some other visible place with a link back to http://www.rainbowgryphon.com.
  • Don’t sell any products or services online or offline that contain my images. I consider that commercial use. You can use my images in free content like blog posts and free ebooks as long as you attribute them to me, as above.
  • Don’t modify my images in any way.

When one of my images appears in a post, understand that the image is (usually) under a Creative Commons license but the written content is not!

For images by other artists, please click on the image to be taken to its webpage and honor the artist’s copyright preferences before using it.

I take copyright seriously, so I have tools in place to check for copyright infringement. Please respect the effort I’ve put into each and every blog post and contact me if you wish to use any of my content beyond fair use.
